2014 Steam Summer Sale

1

The Steam Summer Sale is finally upon us in all its discounted glory. Depending on your financial situation, you’re either rejoicing or weeping. Perhaps a bit of both?

For those unfamiliar, there are nine daily deals that last 24 hours on the front page. There are also four flash sales, which update every 8 hours, and one community pick, which is based on community votes. Voting on the community pick also works you towards a steam trading card. Community picks remain on sale for 8 hours.

Even without the daily, flash, and community sales, a TON of games are marked down and priced to move.

Steam Summer Sale Pro Tip:

As a general rule of thumb, you should avoid purchasing anything that is NOT a daily or flash sale, as there’s a good chance its price will drop lower. For example, right now the Borderlands 2 GOTY is on sale for $15.99, but it’s not a daily or flash sale. A title like this one will inevitably end up as one of the daily or flash sales, and will likely go down to $14.99 (or perhaps even $9.99 – who knows?!).

Flash sale or not, there’s a few games you should definitely keep an eye out for:

  • Borderlands 2 GOTY
  • Don’t Starve
  • Dark Souls 2
  • Outlast
  • Hotline Miami
  • Bioshock Triple Pack (especially Infinite)
  • Goat Simulator

That said, if you missed its many appearances in various Humble Bundles, at $1.50, you have no excuse not to pick up and play Hotline Miami. It’s SO GOOD.
